People…
I love People. I am not a People person. It is hard for me to spend too much time around too many People. People are set in their ways. People makes up its mind about a subject and no amount of subjective information to the contrary can deter that opinion. People hold that family members always get the short end of the stick when dealing with others. People do this one thing, this one way no matter what goes wrong, because people have always done it this way. What is the definition of insanity? People come in every shape size and age. For People personal opinion trumps community, no matter the effect on the others involved in that community. People is the polar oposite of Christianity. People cannot place the love of others before the love of self. People can show no grace toward others because they use it all for them self. I love people. I am people, but I am trying real hard to remedy that situation. What about you?

Me, too. But only His spirit can help me make that transition, from self-absorbed to self-giving.
Very interesting post.
Please explain “Climb high, sleep low.”
Sapper,
Some very profound thoughts. I am especially concerned about the statement that “people opinions trump community, no matter the effect.” Unfortunately, this is true all too often. If we could truly see and understand Jesus and His love, we would truly be able to selflessly make a difference for Him in a positive way — because community must trump personal opinion, or community is in trouble. Let us pray for community and people.
sundancer, “clib high, sleep low” is a mountaineering mantra. it refers to how you acclimatize to the altitude. that is the basic and origin. a more in depth train of thought and explination to follow, poss. next blog.
I got tired of being part of the collective “people” a while back, and though I do slip into the mindset daily, I want to be more of a community person. However, if you become one with community, there can be drawbacks. You become a giver without ever taking into account your own needs. Realistically, the “community” is made up of a lot of takers. Jesus did slip away to become filled before he went out to fill others. I am of little use when I am worn out. I am looking for that happy medium that I do believe exists…maybe the medium is nearer to community. That’s what I think. I do think there is SOME balance to be found.
Shannon, I think that balance is important, but in achieveing that balance community is the hardest thing for us to reach. It is the one thing we have to work at. For most people getting their needs met is second nature.
I think it’s funny that we as people get sick of the very thing we are. I am not a people person, either. There’s got to be a balance somewhere. Nice thoughts.
